CATS the Musical

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s production lands at the Palace — Memory and all.

The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of CATS comes indoors at the Palace for a mid-November run. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s score, drawn from T. S. Eliot’s cat poems, is the one everyone can already hum, and Memory is still the number the room waits for. This staging is built on the choreography: sleek, fast, and carried by an ensemble rather than a single star turn.

It plays Oxford Street from 10 to 21 November. Check tickets for your night, and look at the seat map if you want to catch the detail in the movement. People who only know the film usually find the stage version stranger and quicker, with the tribe of Jellicle cats assembling, competing and dispersing in one stretch. Come for the song you know. Stay for the dancing around it.
