A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong
Mischief’s Cornley amateurs butcher Dickens — festive farce at the Opera House.
Mischief’s Cornley Polytechnic Dramatic Society take on Dickens and lose control of the show within minutes. A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong is the festive farce from the company behind The Play That Goes Wrong: missed cues, collapsing scenery, actors who will not admit the script has left them, and a ghost story that keeps being interrupted by the people trying to tell it.
The Opera House hosts a short run from 17 to 21 November. Physical comedy does most of the work, so pick a seat where you can see the stage floor and the doors at the side. Quay Street is an easy one from the city centre. Bring someone who laughs properly at a pratfall. The jokes land harder when the row around you is willing to go with them, and this audience usually is. Check tickets. Word of mouth moves this one quickly.
