Fiona Shaw at The Cartshaft

Fiona Shaw sings at The Cartshaft, the name regulars use for Crompton Central Working Men’s Club on St Mary’s Gate in Shaw. It is a Saturday vocal booking in a social club: a singer, a room that already has its own crowd, and a bar that behaves like a club bar rather than a venue with a guest-list policy.

The night starts at 8pm on 7 November. Shaw is on the Oldham side of the conurbation, which is the practical appeal if you live out that way and do not fancy the trek into Manchester for a covers night. The Cartshaft books voices often enough that the audience knows how to listen and when to join in. Check the club if you need anything beyond the start time. Turn up, get a drink, and take a seat before the first number if you want to see as well as hear.
