A Tribute to Jilly’s Rockworld

Rock, indie and snakebite at the Ritz — a one-night nod to Manchester’s legendary metal club.

A tribute to Jilly’s Rockworld takes over the O2 Ritz for one late night of rock, indie and the memory of Manchester’s metal club. Jilly’s, on Oxford Road, was the room where snakebite and a loud PA counted as a social life. This night borrows the spirit and puts it in the Ritz on Whitworth Street West: a sprung dance floor, a balcony, and a crowd in boots.

It runs from 11pm on Saturday 7 November through to 3am, with tickets from £6.90. The Ritz is standing and loud, which is the correct shape. It is a one-night nod in a different building, pitched at anyone who remembers the old floor and anyone younger who has heard the stories and wants the volume. Docs help. So does arriving ready to stay late. The cheap ticket is the point. You come for the records, the sweat, and a room that still knows how a rock club is supposed to feel at 1am.
