Louder Than Words is three days of music writing at the INNSiDE hotel on First Street. Band stories, panels, readings and the arguments that spill into the bar afterwards. The programme includes Clint Boon, John Robb and Irvine Welsh, which gives you a spread from Manchester indie history to fiction that has always sat next to music.
It runs from 13 to 15 November. Check the programme before you buy, because the good stuff lives in the timetable: an hour with someone who was in the band, an hour with someone who wrote the book, and the overlap where they correct each other. First Street is the new district behind HOME, a short walk from Oxford Road station. You can dip in for a single session or lose a weekend to it. The hotel bar is part of the festival. Half the best lines happen after the microphones have been switched off and nobody is performing the anecdote anymore.
