Midnite Blue, a guitar and vocal duo, play Saturday band night in the Vernon Suite at Poynton Workmen’s Club. Two people and a club stage is a good format for this room: the guitar is close, the vocal does not have to fight a full backline, and the songs carry to the bar without a soundcheck drama. It is the regular Saturday shape the club does well, with a named duo rather than a rotating playlist.
Doors from 8pm on 14 November, through to about half eleven. Park Lane, Poynton. Get there before the suite fills if you want to see the hands on the guitar as well as hear the voice. A duo night rewards a seat. Standing at the back still works once the choruses start and the room decides to sing. Check the club if you are bringing people who like to know the flavour of the set in advance. Otherwise, treat it as the village Saturday: a band, a bar, and home in a taxi that does not cost half the evening.
