Northern Quarter Record Fair

Dig through crates of vinyl across three NQ spots — indie, soul, techno, and a few surprises.

The Northern Quarter Record Fair spreads crates of vinyl across three spots in the neighbourhood, with Afflecks Palace on Church Street as the anchor. Indie labels, soul 45s, techno, and the odd record you did not know you were looking for until it was in your hand. Entry is free, which means it works as a Sunday browse even if you leave with nothing but a paper bag and a recommendation.

Sunday 8 November, from 11am to 5pm. Crate diggers should go when the doors open, before the obvious titles have been flicked through. Everyone else can drift in through the afternoon, follow the DJs, and still find something worth carrying home. Afflecks is already a warren. The fair uses that, so give yourself time to find the second and third rooms rather than stopping at the first stall by the door. Prices vary from pocket-money 45s to records you should think about. The pleasure is the flick of the sleeves and a conversation with whoever is behind the crate.
