New Year’s Eve — Defected + Glitterbox
House and disco close out 20 years of The Warehouse Project — Groove Armada, Eats Everything, Fat Tony and more.
New Year’s Eve at Depot Mayfield pairs Defected and Glitterbox to close 20 years of The Warehouse Project. House in one room, disco in the other, with Groove Armada, Eats Everything, Fat Tony and a bill that runs from 8pm on 31 December through to 4am. Midnight happens on the dance floor rather than in a pub with a television, which is how a lot of Manchester prefers to end the year.
Two rooms means you can move when one floor is not yours. Defected’s side is the house heavyweights. Glitterbox is the disco, brighter and more interested in a chorus you can sing. Check tickets early. This is one of the nights that actually sells out for a reason, and the door price on the night is not a plan. Baring Street, behind Piccadilly. Wear shoes you can dance in until the new year is already a few hours old, and decide your room before the countdown so you are not stuck in a corridor when the drop hits. The warehouse does cold in the queues and heat on the floor. Dress for both.
