Off the Record at Poynton Workmen's Club
New Year's Eve entertainment in the Vernon Suite.
Off the Record play New Year’s Eve in the Vernon Suite at Poynton Workmen’s Club. Doors from 8pm, through to about half eleven, which is a club’s version of seeing the year out: a band, a bar, and a room full of people who would rather be on Park Lane than in a queue on Baring Street. Midnight in a workmen’s club has its own rhythm. Everyone knows each other a bit. The countdown is louder than it needs to be. The first song of the year is whatever the band feels like playing.
Ticket details are released nearer the night, so check the club before you count on a table. If you are in Poynton for New Year, this is the local booking. If you are coming out from Manchester, sort the last train or a lift before you sort the outfit. The suite fills with regulars, and a NYE crowd arrives closer to the doors than a normal Saturday. Get in, get a drink, and be in the room for the turn of the year rather than still in the car park.
