Open Mic Monday at The Wonder Inn is the low-pressure one. Bring a song, a poem, or just be the person who claps like they mean it. The room on Swan Street has hosted this long enough that first-timers get a fair hearing and regulars know not to talk through a quiet verse. Free entry. A Monday that is not the sofa.
16 November, from 7pm until about 11. The Wonder Inn sits at 29 Swan Street, a minute from Band on the Wall, in the part of town that still does small nights properly. Performers should arrive early enough to put their name down and stay long enough to hear the people before them. Everyone else can wander in, take a seat, and leave when they have heard what they came for. Friendly heckling only, and only if the act invites it. The point is a room where trying something in public is ordinary. Some of it will be brilliant. Some of it will be brave. Both are welcome.
