Members' Festive Draw at Poynton

The members’ festive draw at Poynton Workmen’s Club is the club’s own Christmas night. Entry is free for the draw, with music, prizes, and a free drink for members. Raffle tickets are on sale behind the bar, which is where the serious business of the evening actually happens. People compare what they would do with the big prize, buy another strip, and stay because the room is full of the members who keep the place open the rest of the year.

Friday 4 December, doors from 7pm in the Vernon Suite, through to about half eleven. Park Lane. If you are a member, this is the December date worth putting in the diary. If you are not, check the club’s rules before you assume the door is open to guests. The music keeps the night from being only a raffle. The raffle keeps it from being only a band night. Together they are the sort of evening a social club is for: prizes, a drink you did not pay for, and neighbours you will see again on Saturday.
