Retro Knights at Poynton Workmen's Club
Duo set for the club's Saturday band night.
Retro Knights, a duo, take Saturday band night in the Vernon Suite at Poynton Workmen’s Club. The name tells you the brief. Songs the room already knows, played by two people close enough that you can watch the arrangement happen, in a club that treats Saturday night as a standing appointment. A duo on this stage is all chorus and very little fuss.
Doors from 8pm on 21 November, through to about half eleven. 142 Park Lane. If retro is what you wanted from the weekend, you are in the right suite: familiar hooks, a bar within reach, and a crowd that sings the second verse without being asked. Arrive as the doors open for a seat with a view. Turn up a little later if you are happy to stand and join in once the set has found its stride. It is the weekend before the club’s soul night, so the month still has another reason to come back. This Saturday belongs to the duo and whoever they can get singing.
