Rock Back the Clock at Poynton Workmen's Club

All-star band for Saturday night in the Vernon Suite.

Rock Back the Clock are billed as an all-star band for Saturday night in the Vernon Suite. The name is the setlist. Rock songs you can sing, played by a lineup put together for the room rather than built around a single frontperson. At Poynton Workmen’s Club that means volume, choruses, and a dance floor that earns its keep once the first familiar riff lands.

Saturday 5 December, doors from 8pm until about half eleven. Park Lane. It falls in the first weekend of the club’s Christmas run, the same night a lot of Manchester is at the Haçienda revival in Mayfield, and a perfectly good reason to stay in the village if the warehouse queue is not your idea of a Saturday. An all-star club band lives on the songs everyone shares, so you do not need a deep knowledge of the lineup to have the night. You need to be in the room when they start. Seats go to the early ones. The rest of the suite stands, sings, and sorts a taxi at the end.
