Alan the Soul Man hosts the last Funky Friday of 2026 at Poynton Workmen’s Club. Soul, funk and disco, pay on entry, in the Vernon Suite from 8pm on 18 December. It is the club’s own dance floor, records chosen by someone who has been doing this night long enough to know when the room is ready for the next one. No guest list and no arena production. You pay at the door and the music does the work.
The last one of the year has a slightly different charge. People who came in November come back, and a few who meant to come all autumn finally turn up because the calendar says it is the final Friday. Tinsel or not, the brief is the same: soul and funk you can dance to, disco when the floor needs a lift, and a bar that stays within reach. Park Lane. Cash or whatever the door is taking that night, and shoes you can actually move in. If you have been meaning to go, this is the date. The next one is next year.
