Tony Greenwood Big Band at Denton West End
Monthly big-band night for members and guests.
Tony Greenwood’s big band takes the second Wednesday of November at Denton West End Working Men’s Club. The 11th, doors at 7pm, music for members and their guests in the room on Grosvenor Street. A big band on a Wednesday in Denton is the appeal in one line: horns in a social club, charts you can dance to or simply sit with, and a monthly habit rather than a one-off ticket scramble.
The club opens at 7pm and the night runs to about half ten, which is a civilised shape for a weeknight. If you miss this one, the next is 9 December, same room, same idea. Check the guest rules if you are not a member. The band is worth the small bit of admin. Sit where you can see the section entries, because a lot of the pleasure is watching a lineup this size hit the same figure. Denton is a straightforward trip from Manchester if you are curious, and a local night if you already live on that side. Either way, it is live brass in a room that still knows what to do with it.
